DISCOVERY IS FINALLY ON ITS WAY
After four delays, the Space Shuttle Discovery finally lifted off from Cape Canaveral last night at 11:17pm GMT. This 100th mission for the Space Shuttle will last 11 days, and include an extensive visit to the International Space Station to install the Z-1 truss and transfer additional supplies - the shuttle is expected to reach the station on Friday at 5:43pm GMT. No problems were reported with the launch.
MIRCORP IS PLANNING AN IPO
MirCorp announced yesterday that it is planning an ambitious initial public offering to raise $117 million in working capital for the Mir space station. They are currently in the process of deciding which markets they will list on: Asia, Europe and the US. A third MirCorp-financed supply launch to the station is scheduled for October 16, containing fuel and supplies.
