SALT CRYSTALS IN meteorite DATE FROM THE EARLY SOLAR SYSTEM

Scientists at the University of Manchester and the Natural History Museum in London have performed experiments on a meteorite containing salt crystals, and have determined that it was probably created within two million years of the solar system's formation. This makes these salt crystals some of the oldest known chemicals in the solar system. The meteorite was discovered in Morocco in 1998.

AURORA light SHOW BEGINS

Thanks to the powerful solar storm currently passing the Earth, northern regions are reported beautiful auroras last night (also known as the Northern Lights). A coronal mass ejection (CME) was discovered by solar observatories to heading for Earth on June 6, and triggered auroras best seen from Northern Asia. The solar wind has now declined, however, and scientists anticipate the best light shows are now past.
