Shuttle Raises Station's Orbit

Using the Space Shuttle as a "tugboat", astronauts boosted the orbit of the International Space Station yesterday by 16 kms. The goal is to raise the station to 386 km so that it will be in a safe and stable orbit - able to dock with the Russian module this summer. They will perform the same maneuver twice more before leaving the station on Friday.

NASA Receives Budget Approval from Congress

A House subcommittee voted on Tuesday to grant NASA a total operating budget of $13.7 billion for the next fiscal year - $321.7 less than requested by the Clinton administration. The bill will now go to full committee, then to the House floor, and finally to Senate before it is fully ratified.
