AN ALL-NEW MISSION CONTROL, OVER.

New episode today at 2:00PM ET!

The Space Shuttle is painted white. Barry Finger helps keep it

that way. No, he isn't some kind of weightless car wash attendant,

he's an Advanced Life Support System Engineer. Every single stream

of waste produced in space is his responsibility: human waste, water

waste, liquid cleaner, leftovers from animal experiments,

condensation, sweat, you name it! If it's unwanted by the Shuttle

crew, it's wanted by Barry! How do the astronauts go to the bathroom

in space? You can ask that, or any other gross-out scenario live in

our chat room! Join us this Tuesday at 2:00PM ET for an all-new

MISSION CONTROL, OVER.

NEXT GENERATION SHACESHIP PLAGUED WITH PROBLEMS

The innovative but experimental X-33 program may be scrapped. The

goal is to develop the X-33 into a reusable launch vehicle like the

shuttle, but without dropping used boosters and fuel tanks in flight,

cutting launch costs by as much as 90%. But a string of difficulties

could ground the program.

NASA TO REVIEW ALTERNATIVE LIFEBOATS

Delays in assembly of the International Space Station have given

NASA time to reassess their plans for the Crew Return Vehicle (CRV).

To date, the X-38 has been the focus of NASA CRV plans.

VOLCANO STUDIES MAY REVEAL CLUES TO MARTIAN LIFE

Studies of volcanoes on Earth may help researchers learn about

Martian volcanoes, providing information about the ancient Martian

climate. Tracy Gregg from the UB College of Arts and Sciences

indicated that the ultimate goal of the study is to discern if the

red planet could actually have supported life.
