NASA AND BOEING LOCK HEADS OVER SPACE STATION

NASA is getting angry at Boeing about their project management of the International Space Station, thanks almost $1 billion in cost overruns. A NASA report released last week puts much of the blame on Boeing's acquisition of Rockwell and McDonnell Douglas, and how the company underestimated the impact this would cause on development. Because of the overruns, Boeing will lose over $125 million in incentive bonuses.

CAMERA SHOWS satellite WINGS UNFOLDING

A recently-launched Hughes Galaxy IX satellite had a camera pointed at its solar wings when it deployed them, and the onboard radio transmitted a unique time-lapse video of the event - a space first. The Galaxy IX is the largest, most powerful telecommunications satellite ever built.

JAPAN PLANS NEW SHUTTLE RUNWAY

Japan signed a deal Wednesday with the Kiribati government to build a shuttle landing strip on Christmas Island, in the South Pacific. The strip will be used to land the HOPE-X, an unmanned launch vehicle designed to cut the costs of space transport.
