FAULTY COMPUTER PUSHES ENDEAVOUR LAUNCH BACK A WEEK

Although NASA downplayed its significance during the countdown,

launch managers met this morning and decided that computer problems

that cropped up on Endeavour's countdown Monday were serious enough

to force a postponement. The earliest possible launch date is now

Feb. 9th. Even so, bad weather, and the threat of more bad weather

were likely to delay the launch anyway.

WORLD'S RADIO Telescopes HELP SEARCH FOR THE POLAR LANDER

After brief blips were picked up by the 45-metre radio telescope

at Stanford, NASA opened the possibility that the Mars Polar Lander

was still alive. But further attempts to communicate have so far

failed, so NASA has enlisted the help of radio Telescopes around

the world to join in the search. The famous Jodrell Bank 76-metre

telescope, as well as others from the Netherlands and Italy are

now on the case.
