But for many people, the skies were cloudy, so they had to use the Internet to watch the event. Over 30,000 people tuned in to universe Today to find an AstroCam with clear skies and great view of the eclipse. In case you missed it, the next lunar eclipse will occur on July 16th, 2000. Did you catch photos of the eclipse? Let us know, and we'll link to your site. SETI@home, the screensaver that uses your excess computer time to crunch radio signals, has released a new version of their immensely popular software. Over 1.62 million alien hunters have already downloaded the software, making it the largest network computer experiment ever. http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/ http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/sci/tech/newsid_613000/613444.stm ATLAS ROCKET LAUNCHES COMMUNICATIONS SATELLITE Another member of the U.S. Military's Defense satellite Communications System was launched last night from Cape Canaveral on board a Lockheed Martin Atlas rocket. With this decision, they've also planned to use hardware previously allocated for the International Space Station to maintain Mir; however, they don't expect that using this gear won't cause any delays to their aspects of the ISS. http://cnn.com/2000/TECH/space/01/20/russia.mir.iss/index.html http://www.discovery.com/news/briefs/brief1.html?ct=38888712 http://www.foxnews.com/science/012000/mir.sml http://www.msnbc.com/news/317270.asp http://www.spacedaily.com/spacecast/news/mir-00b.html Space News from SpaceDaily.com for today Atlas II Launches Defense Bird http://www.spacedaily.com/spacecast/news/atlas2-00a.html Ariane And Hughes Ready To Launch Into New Century http://www.spacedaily.com/spacecast/news/panamsat-00b.html GPS To Get Internet Boost http://www.spacedaily.com/spacecast/news/gps-00b.html V-Track 2000 Is Cost-Effective http://www.spacedaily.com/spacecast/news/gps-00a.html Capitalism Boosts Mir http://www.spacedaily.com/spacecast/news/mir-00b.html The Fake Of Mir http://www.spacedaily.com/spacecast/news/mir-00c.html Firm GEO Market Boosts Industry Slightly In 1999 http://www.spacedaily.com/spacecast/news/euroconsult-00a.html Infrared Systems Down Missile http://www.spacedaily.com/spacecast/news/bmdo-00e.html Japan Grapples With SpaceWar Failure http://www.spacedaily.com/spacecast/news/japan-missile-00a.html China Urges US To Abandon NMD http://www.spacedaily.com/spacecast/news/bmdo-00d.html
