Air Force Launches Weather Satellite

BRAZILIAN satellite LAUNCH FAILS

A Brazilian-built VLS rocket was self-destructed three minutes after

launch when the second stage failed to ignite. The rocket was

carrying a research satellite. This is Brazil's second failure in

attempting to put an object into orbit - but this was an

improvement, and Brazilian space officials are hopeful they'll

get it right eventually.

BACTERIA DISCOVERED DEEP IN ANTARCTIC LAKE

In support of the theory that life could have evolved on Europa,

scientists have discovered tiny bacteria in a sample of ice 3,590

meters below the Antarctic surface. Although the sample was taken

from the ice above Lake Vostok, they believe the lake has the

bacteria as well. This environment is the closest known analogy

to what the scientists suspect exists on Europa.
