NEW planet DISCOVERED ORBITING TWO STARS

Another first in the race to discover extrasolar planets - a

Jupiter-sized planet orbiting two stars. The discovery was made

by using a "micro-lensing" technique by a combined team from USA,

Australia and Israel using the Mount Stromlo telescope in Australia.

NEW HYBRID ROCKET MOTOR TESTED

NASA recently test-fired a new hybrid rocket engine which is far

safer than conventional liquid and solid launch vehicles. The new

rocket will be capable of launching 80,000 pounds into space - mainly

small research payloads. NASA expects to use the rocket for with

actual payloads within 3 years.

MARTIAN meteorite COULD HAVE BEEN CONTAMINATED

In a paper published in a recent journal, scientists have concluded

that the discovery of amino acids in Martian meteorite Nakhla are

biological, but come from Earth not Mars. Although there could have

been Martian amino acids at one point, they would have been completely

contaminated by terrestrial organisms.
