SPACESTATION AIR PROBLEM IS "NO BIG DEAL"

Dr. Daniel Barry, one of the seven astronauts to visit the

newly-constructed International Space Station said the problem with

the air was, "no big deal". This comes after NASA admitted that

several of the astronauts were complaining of headaches, nausea

and dry, itchy eyes.

EUROPE PREPARES FOR THE LAST ECLIPSE OF THE CENTURY

Wednesday will be a special day for a few lucky people in a 50 mile

swath, from New York to the Bay of Bengal - a total eclipse of the

Sun. Unfortunately, bad weather forecasts for Europe may make for

difficult viewing.

GPS ROLLOVER APPROACHES

Pilots, fishermen, and navigators will be watching carefully

on August 21st for a possible preview of the Y2K bug - the GPS

rollover. Built to only count up 1,024 weeks, the GPS satellite

network will rollover, resetting back to week 1. Older GPS receivers

may experience problems, act erratically, or even stop

functioning completely.

EXPOSED WIRE CAUSED A SHORT CIRCUIT ON COLUMBIA

NASA officials said that the Space Shuttle Columbia was just

seconds away from having to abort its launch and make an emergency

landing in Africa because of faulty wiring. It seems that electricity

arcing between an exposed wire and a metal screw head caused the short

circuit. The problem will be fixed with during an upcoming extensive

overhaul of the shuttle.
