..truth. I wanted to make the impossible, possible. Not that I ever really believed that would happen. I had surpassed my own expectations, and now a huge weight had been removed from my shoulders...

"And what of the nothingness?" He inquired.

"What about it?" I asked, my resolve cold.

He seemed perplexed. What was he expecting for godsake, me to turn cartwheels on board this vessel. I huffed somewhat disappointed, which seemed to prompt him.

"You're a deep man, Mr. Crowley..." he remarked, and looked nervous in saying it.

And now tried to pursue a path, where these words and his own wouldn't match. Yet each time he opened his mouth, his own reply failed him. It proved me right, him wrong. And that's enough to scare anyone.

"Do you think people will believe what you say?" He probed.

"I neither know nor care," was my quick response.

But I did expand my retort somewhat. I explained, if he was here proving my point, then someone must have believed me, otherwise the event wouldn't be possible.

But as for the wider community, it made no difference: Some would believe, others wouldn't and a whole lot would simply remain ambivalent.

"Deep!" He rambled, almost as though he never expected that word to silently spill from his lips.

His eyes tacitly caught mine, and I exonerated the disapproval by whispering: "It's in the book, you had to say it!" If he was in any
